Realtor turned ‘home stager’

A former realtor who recently started her own interior decorating business said home sellers may want to consider “home staging†to attract buyers.
“You want to make your home look inviting…you want these potential buyers to come in and visualize themselves living there,†Shelley Eells of Shell We Decorate said.
Eells specializes in home staging and one day re-design, both methods of decorating featured on television shows such as “Design to Sell†on HGTV or “Sell This House†on A&E. She also offers a personal shopping service and consulting service for home decorating.
With the housing market so competitive, she said home staging is important. A potential buyer forms a first impression in the first 10 to 15 seconds of seeing a home.
She explained that home staging begins with the exterior of a house and moves to the interior, noting that sellers need to make a home look the best that it can be before a potential buyer sees it. (continue reading…)
